Baked Spicy Pomfret

Whip A Dish

This is an easy recipe and very aromatic and spicy.  I have used a pomfret, but you can use your favourite fish for this recipe; cod-fish works as well.

INGREDIENTS

1 large Pomfret
1 teaspoon pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste

Mix to a paste

2 teaspoons coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
5 shallots (sliced)
1 teaspoon tomato paste
5 cloves garlic (chopped)

A few curry leaves
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 cup thick coconut milk
3 tablespoons oil
coriander leaves for garnishing

METHOD

  • Clean the fish in salt water and cut slits on both sides of the fish
  • Rub the fish with salt, pepper and turmeric powder on both sides and set aside
  • In the meantime, grind the onions, garlic, tomato paste, coriander, turmeric, pepper and chili powders to a paste – add a little water if it is too dry
