I found the original recipe on the back of Goya Red Kidney Beans and after some alterations, this is one of my most favorite things to make (and eat). The original recipe used ham instead of ground beef, less tomato sauce (1/4 cup), only 1 packet of Sazon Goya con Culantro y Achiote and no hot sauce.
1/2 cup ground beef
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green pepper (I also tried this with yellow and red pepper – tastes just as good), chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup Tomato Sauce
1/4 tsp Oregano
3/4 cup water
1 can Goya Red Kidney Beans, undrained
2 packets Sazon Goya con Culantro y Achiote
2 tablespoons hot sauce (optional)
Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, onions, pepper and garlic; cook 10 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Server over hot white rice.
